Sheep Farm Texel
Van der Valk Texel
Texel is famous for its many sheep. They can be seen everywhere on the island! In spring, almost 25,000 lambs are born. In total, almost 38,000 sheep graze on Texel. Texel Sheep Farm lambs can be cuddled and visitors can learn more about sheep farming and farm life: from shearing sheep, herding sheep to seeing old milking machines.
Farmer Hans Witte, son Lennart, and daughter Mariska keep as many as 25 different sheep breeds here. From early spring until the end of October, lambs are born almost daily on the farm. As a visitor, you can observe this up close while the farmer provides explanations.
But there's more! Outside, there is a bouncy castle and a cable car. And there is a colorful collection of animals to be found: chickens, rabbits, goats, pigs, ponies, and a little donkey. Fancy something tasty? Sit back in a cozy chair with a woolly cover in the restaurant and don't forget to have a look around the farm shop full of sustainable products.
