Hiking trails on Texel
The island offers a wide range of hiking trails, but you can also explore on your own without following a specific route. A large part of Texel's nature is located in the Dunes of Texel National Park. Nowhere else in the Netherlands will you find such a variety of landscapes in such a small area. The area on the west side of the island features dunes, wet dune valleys, diverse pine and deciduous forests, salt marshes, and heathlands. In the Dunes of Texel National Park, there are many signposted routes indicated by poles with colored tops. Each color has its own meaning:
Yellow= Main route
Blue = circular walk
Rood = nature trail
Green = access only outside the breeding season
At the starting points of the hikes, often located at a parking lot, there are information boards indicating the length of the routes. Additionally, you will find containers with informational brochures here.
We would like to give you a few suggestions in advance:
Enjoy your walk.
