A LOOK BEHIND THE SCENES OF A REAL SHEEP FARMER

Texel is famous for its many sheep. They can be seen everywhere on the island! In spring, nearly 25,000 lambs are born. A total of nearly 38,000 sheep then graze on Texel. On the sheep farm Texel lambs can be cuddled and visitors can learn more about sheep farming and farm life: from shearing sheep, raising sheep to seeing old milking machines.

Farmer Hans Witte, son Lennart and daughter Mariska keep as many as 25 different breeds of sheep here. From early spring to late October, lambs are born on the farm almost every day. As a visitor you can watch this up close, while the farmer explains.

But there is more! Outside there is a bouncy castle and a cable car. And there is a colorful collection of animals: chickens, rabbits, goats, pigs, ponies and a donkey. Fancy a snack? Plop down in a lovely wool coat chair in the restaurant and don't forget to look around the farm store full of sustainable products.
