LIGHTHOUSE ON TEXEL

Did you know that the Texel lighthouse is the only lighthouse in the Netherlands with a view of the sea on three sides? The 47 meter high tower stands at the most dangerous inlet in the Netherlands. When the weather is clear, you can look out over the Wadden Sea World Heritage to Vlieland, Wieringen and Den Helder. In order to enjoy the panoramic view of the Texel lighthouse, on the northernmost tip of the island, you must first climb six floors of the tower. Don't feel like climbing? Then walk around through the dunes around the lighthouse or enjoy the red beacon along the coastline, during a walk on the beach.

VISIT TEXEL LIGHTHOUSE

The lighthouse is open all year round, but opening days and times vary seasonally. After a staircase of 118 steps, a magnificent view awaits. A reasonable basic level of fitness is required to climb the six steep spiral staircases. Dogs and pushchairs cannot be brought along. There is no lift in the tower, but the path to the lighthouse is barrier-free, so that wheelchair users can reach the lighthouse.
